Climate & The Environment

It's Your Choice. Will You Choose Wisely?

If you honestly believed it was true that mankind has less than 10-years to significantly reduce greenhouse gasses from the burning of fossil fuels - or else the planet would enter a global death spiral of uncontrollable and unstoppable global warming resulting in the mass extinction of all humanity,

And if it was within your power to prevent such global annihilation simply by your decision to eliminate all unnecessary burning of fossil fuels,

Then if you understood that the future of the human race depended upon your choices, would there be any preventative measures too extreme or unjustifiable if they successfully reduced greenhouse gasses sufficiently to save the planet and all humanity from extinction?

Thus, if you believe human extinction from the burning of fossil fuels is imminent, it would certainly be a greater threat to our immediate existence than the enemies we faced in World War II,

And if it was within your power to prevent human extinction,

Then certainly at the very least you would be justified – even expected to choose to institute similar measures that made us victorious in WWII if such measures would likewise enable us to defeat our suicidal dependence on fossil fuels – wouldn’t you?

American Freedom & Prosperity Are Under Attack

"Millennials and Gen Z and all these folks that come after us are looking up, and we're like, 'The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?' - and like this is the war, this is our World War II" she said. USA Today.

The Green New Deal

The GND seeks a “massive transformation of American society” by remaking the U.S. economy without any fossil fuels. It’s stated objective of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions requires the elimination of all fossil fuel consumption, including natural gas, within the next ten years.

This includes the total and complete elimination of motor vehicles operating on fossil fuels, including any vehicle with a combustion engine, be that vehicle a car, truck, boat, or plane.

Not only are all boats with fossil fuel engines to be eliminated, but also the industries making and supporting such.

With such a radical Democratic agenda, what happens to the immediate value of all the vessels with fossil fuel engines?  Boat owners are wealthy, they can afford to take such a loss if it’s necessary to save the planet – right?

How would the GND affect all those companies, service providers and employees that depend on boaters and the boating industry?  As the GND explains, even if it’s necessary to destroy some polluting industries, all of the employees and displaced workers can get new high paying “green jobs” in the new “green economy”.

If the United States, the largest economy in the world and bulwark against the UN’s and IPCC’s carbon emission hysteria and cap and trade carbon credit con game, takes this new radical position, it may well encourage more financial and fiscal foolishness and accelerate the implementation of similar draconian regulations globally.

While the boating industry is not singled out,  it nevertheless may be the most vulnerable low hanging fruit.

The GND seeks to eliminate all greenhouse gases and the industries creating them. Specifically mentioned, is the Air Line industry, with about 700,000 American jobs.  The GND also targets agriculture production that most Americans consider a priority – beef and dairy cattle production- because cattle digestion produces dangerous greenhouse gasses.

President Obama and other leading Democrats have implemented policies to shutter the coal industry, costing thousands of jobs and increasing the actual cost of basic energy needs for all Americans – all under the singular objective of reducing greenhouse gases.

Many Democrats now endorse “Medicare For All” admitting it will end the private healthcare insurance industry.

Democrats are not shy about eliminating entire industries and jobs they deem undesirable in order to accomplish their radical social and environmental objectives to remake the United States.

Eliminating the non-essential recreational boating industry as quickly as possible as part of the ruse to save the planet is entirely consistent with both the letter and spirit of the GND.  In fact, they could probably turn it to their political advantage with their radical base.

As a consolation to eliminating the high paying boating industry and ancillary supporting jobs, the GND does promise a job for everyone that might be displaced: A guaranteed job with "family-sustaining wages" for all Americans, particularly for those "unable" and, more importantly, "unwilling" to work.

Climate change is now the top issue for the great majority of Democratic voters. A recent national CNN poll found 82% of registered Democrats and Democratic leaning independents listed climate change as a "very important" top priority they’d like to see get the focus of a presidential candidate.

If radical environmentalist and the Democratic Party really believe those climate predictions and what they profess in the GND to be true, less than 10 years to eliminate all greenhouse gas emissions or face global extinction, why would they or anyone else encourage, promote or ever allow any unnecessary greenhouse gases from recreational vehicles of any type.  If true, why does anyone want to own such Earth destroying fossil fuel burning toys?

Regrettably though, taking the Democrats at their word, that they truly believe what they profess in the GND, and that they will do what they promise and eliminate all green house gasses and the industries responsible, it’s hard to see the election of a Democratic President in 2020 resulting in anything good for the boating industry or anyone associated therewith: boat owners, manufacturers, suppliers, employees, consultants, brokers, crew, etc.

The political realities are such that a Democratic President in 2020, would also likely enjoy a Democratic House & Senate. And haven't we heard something like this before, "If you like your boat, you can keep you boat."

The Sensible Alternative

Nobody wants clean water and a healthy environment more than boaters - the stewards of the seas.

Unfortunately, while acknowledging the economic impact of the boating industry, many Democrats as per the GND, see destroying the boating industry and others that burn fossil fuels as just a necessary cost of saving the planet from greenhouse gases.

Precious few Democrats are aware, or even care, much less understand or appreciate the many other positive contributions boat owners and the boating industry make to the global environment and American society beyond the obvious economic benefits. But now we can change their perceptions of the boating industry.

Boaters For A Brighter Future believe there is an alternative to radical environmental policies proposed by the vast majority of national Democrats - and certainly as proposed by the leaders of the Democratic Party.

We support a rational, realistic, and responsible environmental policy and those public officials that do also.

Do you trust them with your boat? Or your vote?
